Reading and Language Arts Teacher

The Washington Jesuit Academy, a Catholic school formed under the auspices of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and operated according to Jesuit educational principles, is a tuition-free middle school offering high quality education to boys from low-income communities in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Our Mission is to educate academically talented adolescent boys from low-income families, regardless of religious denomination, providing them with a disciplined, rigorous learning environment.

The goal of the Washington Jesuit Academy is to prepare our students to become "Men for Others" who, having gained confidence spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and physically will be able to succeed in high school, college, and beyond, on their way to becoming leaders in their communities.

The Washington Jesuit Academy seeks a full-time middle school Reading and Language Arts teacher for the current 2016-17 academic year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach four sections during the traditional academic year, September-May
  • Work one evening study hall per month (4:30pm-6:15pm)
  • Teach an enrichment course, as needed
  • Work two afternoon duties per week (clubs, coaching, service, etc.)
  • Communicate with families regarding students through report cards, progress reports, conferences, and correspondence
