WJA Admissions

The Washington Jesuit Academy is an Independent / Catholic academy for boys from low-income and underserved communities in grades 4th-8th. All students attend on full scholarship once admitted and financial criteria is met. WJA places heavy emphasis on an academically challenging curriculum, character development and extracurricular involvement, preparing them for strong academic college-prep high schools.

WJA is known for having motivated, conscientious, hard-working students and highly qualified teachers. The school takes pride in its small class sizes, extended day (7:20am – 6:20pm) extended year (11 months) program, mandatory 5-week Summer Enrichment Program, and Graduate Support Program.

Applying to WJA

We are currently accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year.

To apply, you will need to:

  • Submit an application, including student’s academic transcript, recommendation from teacher/school official, and their family’s tax documents (most recent W2 and 1040 forms)
  • WJA will complete a financial verification to ensure all families applying meet our financial qualifications.
  • Once it is determined a student’s family meets WJA’s financial qualifications, our Admissions Office will contact you to attend a Saturday Admissions Session.
  • Participate in a Saturday Admissions Session; including a standardized test, a classroom session, and a student interview. Families are asked to attend the first hour for a Parent/Guardian Q & A from 9–10am.
  • Families will be informed regarding admission to the Washington Jesuit Academy on a rolling basis via phone, email, or mail.
  • Successfully complete our 5-week Summer Enrichment Program, which is scheduled from June 15, 2020 – July 17, 2020. The Summer Enrichment Program is mandatory.

Saturday Admissions Sessions

Once the family’s financial information has been reviewed, WJA’s Admissions Office will invite applicants to sign up for one of our Saturday Admissions Sessions. The Admissions Office will contact you directly to set this up.
