GIVE THE GIFT OF EDUCATION

Our most direct donation opportunity is our Sponsorship program. Sponsors immediately see the impact of their gift on the life of an individual student and become a critical part of our education model that addresses the cycle of poverty that plagues our students’ communities and replaces it with a cycle of hope, determination, and success.


As a Student Sponsor, you will:


  • Be invited to meet and get to know your student at two annual events on campus
  • Have the opportunity to join your student for periodic lunches and dinners as your schedule allows
  • Receive two letters each year from your student, updating you on his journey through WJA
  • Get updates from the WJA team about your student, including Honor Roll and Student Awards
  • Attend our inspiring Graduation as your student completes 8th grade and begins his next chapter
  • And much more

Join the Varnum Society

Every gift that we receive creates a profound impact on our school and in the lives of our students. To better recognize our generous donors who support the Washington Jesuit Academy through annual fund gifts of $1,000 or more we founded the Varnum Society in 2020. Named in acknowledgement of WJA’s address on Varnum Street in Washington, D.C., the Varnum Society reflects the remarkable sense of place, affinity, and community that brings together our students, alumni, donors, and friends. Gifts from Varnum Society members provide a critical level of support for WJA, moving our mission forward and capturing emerging opportunities in areas throughout the Academy.

Donate Appreciated Stock

Donations of appreciated stock or securities are an easy and very cost‐effective way to support WJA. When you transfer ownership of holdings, you receive a charitable deduction for the full market value—and incur no capital gains tax (subject to IRS deduction limits).

If you donate stock through the help of your own broker, we request that you contact either Madeleine or give@wjacademy.org to help us properly acknowledge your gift. 


Donor Advised Funds

If you have an existing account with any of the below funds, it's easy to make a gift to WJA. If providing a supportive environment and a rigorous education to the young men of DC is important to you and your family, please consider the Washington Jesuit Academy Donor Advised Fund Program. Donate through Workplace Giving

One of the easiest, most effective ways you can support WJA is through workplace giving (which often takes form in payroll contributions). Please check with your workplace to see if there is a giving option available, or if they would be willing to match your contributions. 

  • Federal employees (civilian, military, and postal workers) can donate through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), which is a workplace giving campaign specifically targeting federal workers. To designate your contribution to WJA, use CFC ID # 14236.
  • Many workplaces beyond the federal government have workplace giving campaigns through the United Way. Look for Washington Jesuit Academy or #9483 to designate annual support through your workplace.


Select WJA as your AmazonSmile Charity

You can support WJA by doing your regular Amazon shopping at smile.amazon.com. When you select Washington Jesuit Academy as your AmazonSmile charity while shopping at smile.amazon.com, Amazon will donate .5% of the eligible purchases to WJA.

Join the Legacy Society through Planned Giving

A gift in your will is a meaningful way to support WJA. It is also a simple, flexible, and affordable way to help young men in the D.C. area continue to realize their full potential. To leave a gift to the Washington Jesuit Academy in your estate plan, please use this language. And because your gift is not realized until after your lifetime, it costs you nothing today. Finally, if your life or financial circumstances change, you can amend your gift or change your mind at any time.
